Heteromeles arbutifolia commonly known as toyon, is a common perennial shrub native to extreme southwest Oregon, California and Baja California. These kinds of species are found in the United States in California and Arizona and Mexico in Baja California.

Today, bike riders are forced onto heavily trafficked Rosemead Boulevard, San Gabriel Boulevard, Durfee Road and Live Oak Avenue. They have done a nice job on this project. I ride this trail a few times a week. It can be used in large containers, natural landscaping, habitat restoration projects and as erosion control. California buckwheat is a good source of nectar over many months in dryer areas. West of Victoria in the Jordan River region, the Tansky ORV Riding Area has 50km+ of dirt biking trails spread over 20 square kilometers. Ahead is the Carson St. underpass. That big white building houses the restrooms, meeting rooms, etc. It is of special value to native butterflies and bees and a pollinator plant.

CAUTION: Rattlesnakes may strike when they feel threatened or are provoked. Rattlesnake bites can cause serious injury.
